Hey! And welcome.

How we talk to ourselves is everything. You might already be convinced of that. Heck, you might have someone in your circle of friends and family who thinks completely differently from you, who doesn’t seem to get nearly as upset by the things that you get upset by.

Like, cough cough, your dog…

One person might see no problem in their dog jumping up on people and the other sees it as an outright crime. Leaving aside whether or not you want to be thinking of your dog’s jumping up as great or outrageous, what this shows is that we can feel differently about the same thing depending on how we think about it.

It’s a misconception that coaching is about making people change their mindset so that they can be Pollyanna-ishly optimistic about anything and everything, including simply horrible things.

Though if you wanted to you could probably do that, that is not the point.

The point is to first become aware of our thinking, as a prerequisite to the next step, which is deciding if you want to keep or ditch these beliefs in an attempt to live a more congruent life. Congruent with your own core values, that is.
